DIY Nature Photo Frames

This creative photo frame craft activity involves gluing the collected items from your family walks during lockdown (or even from your back yard!) onto a photo frame, letting it dry, and adding a picture. It’s pretty simple and fun for children of ALL AGES!

Materials

· Items you have collected from outdoors

· A wood photo frame with a wide, flat edge

· PVA glue or hot glue

· Printed photo for inside your frame

Instructions

1. Arrange your nature walk items on the frame to fill it in. It is easiest to start with the biggest pieces and then fill in the spaces with the smaller pieces. Fit the different shapes together like a puzzle and arrange the different colours and textures how you like. Younger kids may need some help with this part.

2. One at a time, lift a piece off the frame and squirt a generous amount of glue all over the back of it, wherever it contacts with the picture frame. It is best to find the flattest side of each piece to place down on the frame, so it sticks better.

3. Place it back on the frame and press down.

4. Repeat until all items are glued down.

5. Keep the frame flat and let it dry for at least 24 hours.

6. Once dry, place the photo of your choice inside the picture frame – easy peasy!

We would love to see some photos of your finished natural photo frames. Please send your pics to Gemma at OSCAR@pukete.org.nz – Ngaa mihi.
