Super Easy Salt Dough Recipe

Yesterday we shared the recipe and benefits of making playdough and today we will extend on this by making our very own super easy salt dough.

Salt dough is a wonderful product that can be an inexpensive way to create presents and gifts – Father’s Day is on Sunday 5th September and is fast approaching!

Salt dough is also great for making Christmas ornaments, if you want to start your Christmas decorations early during lockdown.

Here is a simple recipe and can be easily made at home using 3 basic ingredients and then placed in the oven to cook.


· 1 cup salt

· 2 cups of flour

· ¾ cup of water


1. In a large bowl mix salt and flour together.

2. Gradually stir in water. Mix well until it forms a doughy consistency.

3. Place the dough onto the bench and kneed with your hands until smooth and combined.

4. Make your creations using the salt dough.

Place the salt dough creations into the oven at 180C. The amount of time needed to bake depends on the size and thickness of the salt dough creations.

Tips & Ideas:

· Store your salt dough in an airtight container as it keeps well for a few days.

·You can paint your salt dough creations with acrylic paints and seal with varnish or polyurethane spray.

·Salt dough can also be aired dried and is an alternative to oven drying.
